The Kyoto Protocol is an international agreement linked to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. It was created on December 11, 1997. It commits its parties to reducing energy waste and pollution by setting internationally binding emission reduction targets. Today is the anniversary the day it went into force on February 16, 2005.
